Separation agreements
This legally binding contract sets out the terms for a separation in the period before a divorce is granted. It sets terms for the division of marital assets such as the family home, outlines child custody arrangements and can address financial matters such as child and spousal maintenance.
Divorce
Married couples must wait two years before they can begin divorce proceedings and must be living in Ireland at the time of their divorce application. They must also have agreed on proper arrangements for the division of their assets and child custody before a court will grant a divorce.
